Hi Patrick
The new web site is great but I missed Lusaka Nights. Why didn't it make the cut?
Patrick replies:
Hi Evelyn I don't know really. Maybe I'll reinstate it! Just trying to get some new material up ... at least that's the plan ... best Patrick

I came across this website when looking at upcoming Arvon courses. I have not read Twelve Bar Blues, but for some reason the title inspired me to read the blurb about it. One of my all-time fav books is Coming through Slaughter by Michael Ondaatje, one of the texts I am writing about for my Ph.D thesis. I was wondering if Twelve Bar Blues was inspired by the Buddy Bolden story? Or if not it bears any relation to the Michael Ondaatje story about Bolden, the cornet player?
Well, after rambling away here at silly o'clock like a true insomniac, It dawned on me (no pun intended) that I will probably just have to go any buy the book to find out!
Patrick replies:
Hey Elisabeth
Buy the book! Find out for yourself!
Or ... I could just tell you ... yeah, it was ... definitely ... I didn't partlcularly like the Ondaatje book, but I find the Bolden story totally gripping.
Take care Patrick

Hello Mr. Neate;
I just finished " Twelve Bar Blues" and found it highly entertaining. Having been one of the tourists to visit the Vodoo Museum in New Orleans- and german, too- maybe not so florid as expected- I enjoyed the many twists of the story. And will surely read it again- now knowing what happens I can all the more relish the vivid language ( not being able to express myself equally in lack of opportunity to practice)
Thanks for tears and smiles
Christine

I really loved City of Tiny Lights. Will there ever be another Tommy Akhtar adventure or was that a "one-off." Thanks.
Patrick replies:
Hey Sanjay
Thanks for the comment. I think there might be. I'm currently working on the screenplay, so if that's successful and gets made, I guess that'll turn into a definite yes.
best Patrick
